Sweet Work Nook

The Sweet Work Nook is popping up everywhere as home offices become main stream. Many industries are allowing their workers to work from home which is a smart idea that financially makes sense, saves on energy and optimizes technology. Joanna from Arcadian lighting is a great example of someone who works from home and has her own little sweet work nook. I have the pleasure of having her contribute on my blog this week discussing the sweet work nook. Joanna, welcome!

Hi! I’m Joanna, a writer for Arcadian Lighting, a premier source for light fixtures of all styles and finishes. I work from home, so having a pretty space to tackle writing projects is a must for keeping motivation and enthusiasm at high levels. I absolutely adore the following spaces where homeowners have cleverly made little work nooks in the most unusual places. Which one is your favorite?

A wide hallway ends in a lovely little work nook in this traditional home. I love the wallpaper at the back of the shelves because it adds interest through pattern. The bamboo chair in honeysuckle is very pretty.

Another closet works beautifully as an office you can just tuck away until you need it. I like the big shelves in this one.

Remove closet doors, add a curtain—voila!—you have an office nook to call your own. The swing arm wall lamp is a nice touch.

A bedroom or really any room is the perfect place to set up shop. This work nook is a bit larger than our other examples but I like the creative look of it.

A tiny corner with banquette seating becomes an office when you extend the pull-out table. This is such clever use of an unusual space!

This contemporary bedroom has its own work nook in what appears to have once been a closet. I like the shelves built in up the one side for extra storage.

Pink and grey are the order of the day in this cute little workspace. The tulip table offers an extra work area and with the chair on rollers you can rotate back and forth between projects. The adjustable light fixture beside the table provides much needed light to illuminate projects.

This petite window seat would be the perfect spot to curl up with a laptop and knock a project or two out in one sitting.
