All About Interiors makes a big Blog renovation and gets a little personal. When I first started out writing my blog, I thought each blog should be of a professional and informational in tone. I have done so, thus far but I felt it was missing an important element. The element of letting my readers know who I am as a person, as well as a designer. I have decided to change it up a bit and add more of my personality and humor to my blog so that you get a better idea of who it is that is writing all this jibber jabber.
The informational designer blogs will remain constant but in addition, I will also add some fun blogs about fashion, life, mommy blooper blogs etc… I am super excited to start with a blog about me, myself and I because frankly, I ask you, who doesn’t love talking about themselves?
Although I adore fashion and all things designer… even I know there can be such a thing as over the top when it comes to fashion and design. I do enjoy looking sparkly and glamorous every now and again. However, at the end of the day it’s, what I call my “comfy clothes” that I long for. I guess you could say I am a “down to earth,” flats and jeans wearing, type of gal and I’m okay with that.

Speaking of fashion, there are many hats that adorn my head. I am not talking about the super adorable, fun, wide rim, flouncy kind. Sometimes my hats are piled two and three high upon each other throughout each day which is not always a pretty visual, if you can imagine. I am a person who takes multi-tasking to a whole new level. Rarely will you find me doing just one thing at any given time. I’d like to consider myslef a life juggler and often hear circus music playing in my head.

Professionally speaking, I am an interior designer who enjoys my “job” immensely. I ask you, “Who doesn’t like to shop, spend other people’s money and receive the reward of sheer client gratitude upon a completed project?”

I am a creative person who enjoys the originality each day offers me in this profession.

I have a small office in my home set up with multiple libraries of fabrics, tiles, wood samples etc… all extremely and obsessively well organized. My friends actually have made fun of me because I’m so freakin organized! (Side note to self: maybe I should look into getting some new friends.) I intentionally set up my studio out of my home because aside from working with and for clients throughout the week, I am a mom.
My husband and I are the proud parents to an eleven year old mini dachshund named Peanut

…and the most adorable, smartest, funniest and sweetest little four year old girl. I know…

Most moms like their kids but I am seriously head over heals in love with mine. Seriously, it’s a little sick. That being said, I say that now…Talk to me in 8 years when I may not be humming that same tune. (For instance: fast forward to when her eyes are rolling so far up in her head at me because I simply asked her to stop texting and put away her cell phone at the dinner table.) Ok, I digress… so while working out of my home I can also spend time with my daughter during the very impressionable years. I feel that while she is still young and wants me around… I will be around.

So then there is my BFF hubby who is the complete opposite of me (Thank goodness! More than one of someone like me in the family would be too much!). He’s so laid back and type B personality that my obsessive compulsion to be organized and neat doesn’t really faze him so much (this is what I’m thinking). So my hubby is off at work doing his thang, while I am running my business, promoting the heck out of it and all the while, being the all time best Mommy in the whole freaking world (yes, I will say so myself). In addition, I put on my accounting and chef hat and make sure all the bills are paid, the house is clean (enough), and fridge is stocked and meals are cooked.

Can you see the cape that floats in the wind behind me? You know the one I’m talking about. The one that reads “Super Woman.” Hubby, in turn, makes sure that the lawn is mowed, garbage goes out, pool is cared for and all the “manly” outdoor chores are taken care of… Compromise is not such a bad deal right?

All work and no play let’s just say, makes for a very “not-so-enjoyable” life. I am a very social person and love to hang out with my girlfriends. Granted, I no longer have “partying on a boat every weekend” kind of fun but our girl time is a more sophisticated, dinner out and sipping wine while laughing at our funny kid (and husband) stories, kind of fun.

I like to hobble in a few hobbies and occasionally I’m referred to as “Martha” in my house, as in, Martha Stewart. I will humbly tell you I am not nearly as talented as she! I do enjoy stamping and paper crafts during my free time. I make my own greeting cards, stationary and holiday cards. I have even been commissioned to make cards for others on occasion.

I enjoy reaping the benefits of gardening, both veggie and flower. (Although I must say, I’m not a big fan of weeding, but then again, who is?) I have tried my hand at knitting and after making a beautiful blanket, many scarves and my last project, a baby blanket, I can confidently say, I’m so over knitting! I enjoy anything water; beach, boating, pool and on rare occasions, I am even allowed a hot shower without any interruptions. I have recently entered the world of cooking and not surprising, I have found that I enjoy eating immensely more than I do the cooking part. I enjoy reading mindless books that elevate me to a place far away.

I’ve spent many years traveling to various places throughout the world. Italy and France are definitely my ultimate favorites. I’d say I’d love to return to Barbados but I don’t think a certain monkey, who was oddly smoking a cigarette on the beach, (you shall remain anonymous, but you know who you are) would want to see me again. Don’t even ask!

So, that is a small snippet of who I am in a nutshell…. I hope you snorted out a few giggles as you read. A daily dose of laughter is so important.
Thanks for reading… Let’s start a discussion. Any questions?
