Custom Window Treatments, Bedding and Pillows… OH MY!

The big difference between an ordinary bedroom and an extraordinary one is simply custom window treatments, bedding and pillows. Recently I completed an installation for my client’s master bedroom suite and on suite. One of the big issues they were having was that the husband liked to sleep-in during the morning time but with their current treatments, he was awoken at the crack of dawn (no bueno!)

I offered the solution of blackout lining under operable drapery as well as a decorative solution to cover the palladium window. Skeptical but thrilled at the idea that they could not only have a beautiful treatment to dress their rather large windows but one that would offer darkness in the early a.m. As you can see, the room looks cold, bare and unexciting.

Here is another picture of their room from a different angle…

Once the project got under way… there was much talk (mostly me) of custom pillows and bedding to coordinate with the windows and tie in nicely with the decor. My client, never having custom window treatments or bedding before, was liking the idea but concerned about the cost.

I assured her that I would choose affordable fabrics and dress them up with some decorative trim. Being sensitive to her budget, I designed two different styles, one a bit pricier than the second but both giving her a similar look and functionality she desired. Thinking she would choose the less expensive of the two, I went back to show my client how not only they could get an affordable custom window treatment, but it would be functional and amazingly beautiful as well. Wouldn’t you know, she loved both designs but chose the more expensive one and added bedding, a bedskirt and custom pillows to boot!

Although we are not done adding a sitting area in front of the window and some wall art, here is how the room came out!

A humongous improvement, no?

Next, we moved onto the master bathroom on suite. Here are the before pictures…

My client’s mouth dropped during the reveal and she couldn’t stop talking about transformation of her bedroom.

(Her testimonial)

“Melanie,

I absolutely love, love my bedroom and bathroom! Thank you so much! I am so happy. Also, thank you very much for the “little touch of the beach” gift. I immediately put it in my bathroom. You did an amazingly wonderful job. Can’t wait to start the next project- dining room. I will keep in touch.

Very Happy,

Carol and Mike”
