The big difference between an ordinary bedroom and an extraordinary one is simple. Creating a custom look with custom window treatments, bedding and pillows can not even compare to store-bought. If you are interested in making an impact in your home, custom window treatments are the way to go.
This was a master bedroom suite project that was completed for my client. One of the big issues with their current window treatments, they let the light in. The husband liked to sleep-in during the morning time. But with their current treatments, unfortunately, he was awoken at the crack of dawn. No bueno!
Custom Treatment Solutions
I offered the solution of blackout lining under operable custom drapery. As well as, a decorative custom window treatment solution to cover the palladium window. Skeptical, but thrilled that they could not only have a beautiful treatment to dress their rather large windows but one that would offer darkness in the early a.m. As you can see, the room looks cold, bare and unexciting.
Sorry for the terrible photo… Brightness in the room was the issue.
Once the project got under way… there was much talk (mostly me) of custom pillows and bedding to coordinate with the windows. These would tie in nicely with the existing bedroom decor. Never having custom window treatments or bedding before, the client was liking the idea. She was also very concerned about the cost.
Custom Window Treatment Cost
Assuring her that affordable fabrics were available. Dressing up the custom window treatments with some decorative trim. Sensitive to her budget, two different custom window treatment styles were designed. One a bit pricier custom chosen fabric than the second. Both treatments would give her a similar look and provide the functionality she desired. Thinking the client would choose the less expensive of the two, I went back to show how, not only, an affordable custom window treatment was available to them. But it would be functional and amazingly beautiful as well. The client loved both designs. But surprisingly, chose the more expensive custom treatment and added custom bedding, a gathered custom bedskirt and custom pillows, to boot!
Although the space is in dire need of adding a custom sitting area in front of the window and some wall art. In Spite of that, here is how the room came out!
A humongous improvement, no?
Master Bathroom on suite
Next, the master bathroom on suite needed desperate help. The room was full of hard materials and just felt cold. But look at those amazing views!!! Below are the before pictures…
Below are the after pictures…
My client’s mouth dropped during the reveal and she couldn’t stop talking about transformation of her bedroom and on suite. She writes…
“Melanie,
I absolutely love, love my bedroom and bathroom! Thank you so much! I am so happy. Also, thank you very much for the “little touch of the beach” gift. I immediately put it in my bathroom. You did an amazingly wonderful job. Can’t wait to start the next project- dining room. I will keep in touch.
Very Happy,
Carol and Mike”
