It’s easy to make a beautiful home with household luxury when you have plenty of money. You can afford to upgrade your sofa – and then the expensive fabric wallpaper to bring out its colors. In fact, should you wish to, you could employ the services of an expert interior designer such as All About Interiors, to take care of everything for you!
For most of us, though, it’s a case of making slow progress when you can afford it, and keeping your eyes open for a bargain. With this in mind, I thought I would go through a few ways of getting a luxurious household without spending a fortune. Let’s take a look at a few ideas right now.
Tidy up!
The first thing to do, costs nothing – declutter your home from top to bottom. The chances are that you have a lot of needless stuff lying around so get rid of everything that is taking up valuable cabinet and closet space. Invest in some storage solutions, too. It sure ain’t sexy, but the difference an uncluttered home can make is incredible.
Learn the art of shabby chic
Tired of looking at the cheap old dresser or desk unit in your home? You don’t need to spend a fortune to replace them. Instead, makeityours.co.uk recommend you give them a light sanding, before applying some chalk paint in a color of your choice. Use some wire wool to distress the finish a little, and then seal it up with wax – and voila! You have yourself a beautiful, antique looking piece of furniture for less than the cost of a night out.
Create a focal point
Go into any home – or room – dripping with sheer luxury, and they’ll all share one particular thing in common: they have a central point. It might be a beautiful fireplace, a stunning, antique mirror, or a well-designed vignette – but the entire focus of the room is centered on making it stand out. So, take a look at the rooms in your home and try and establish your focal point if you want to create a stunning look.
Hot tubs
Nothing beats relaxing in the garden with a beautiful hot tub – and you can do it any time of year. But unless you have several thousand to splash out on a full-size tub, and the space to keep it there permanently – it’s an unrealistic dream. At least, it was – as reviewloft.co.uk points out. These days you can get some incredible hot tubs to create that luxurious outdoor environment you need to relax. These hot tubs come in a wide range of prices, but you won’t have to spend a small fortune to enjoy a bubbly soak, either on your own or with friends.
Shop Antique Store Steals
There are some fantastic Antique shops out there, packed to the brim with bargains galore for the home. My top tip is to go to second hand shops near wealthy areas. You will be amazed at what people get rid of, and it’s a great way to get some stunning pieces – and furniture – for peanuts.
