Housework is something that many of hate doing. When we are busy working and looking after our families, it can be hard to fit in the time for cleaning home décor. We try our best to keep up with the day to day chores, we wash our clothes and keep things hygienic, but with so much to do it’s hard to keep up with it all. You have invested time and money into making your home décor beautiful. Most don’t realize that cleaning home décor is equally as important as the every day cleaning chores.
While this post about cleaning your home can help, there are a few things that barely any of us think to clean as often as we should, if we do it at all. Here’s a look at four of the things most of us don’t clean enough.
Your Curtains

Be honest here, have you ever cleaned your curtains? Many of us hang them, and then never think about it again. You may have thick lined curtains for the winter, and thinner, brighter ones for the summer months. In this case, you might have them washed when you make the change. But, do you do this in every room? When was the last time you cleaned the curtains in your guest room?
However, curtains can pick up dust and dirt or even get damp and moldy if you struggle with condensation. This means they need cleaning at least once a year. Do this by either vacuuming or cleaning with a home steam cleaner. Please be sure that you do not steam clean any curtains that are made from a delicate fabric like silk.
Your Duvet
This is another thing that many of us don’t clean, in part because they rarely fit into a home washing machine. Your duvet can be home to millions of dead skin and dust cells and also needs washing twice a year.
Don’t be tempted to hand wash, however, as the fibers absorb a lot of water, which can take a long time to dry and end up smelling musty. Take your duvet to a dry cleaners which offers a duvet washing service.
Towels

Towels are something that most of us do wash frequently, so you may be surprised to seem on this list. But, if you only wash your bath towels and kitchen towels once a week or less, it’s not enough. Your bath towels get damp and dry off again after every use, which can see bacteria multiply so they should be washed every 3-4 uses. If you shower every day, that’s twice a week. Kitchen towels also harbor bacteria and should be washed twice a week, even when they look clean.
The Shower Curtain
Many people assume that their shower curtain gets cleaned when they shower. It gets rinsed with hot water every day after all. But, it stays damp long after which can lead to black mold growth. Black mold can cause breathing difficulties, so wash your curtain or shower liner once a month, or more if you spot black mold growing. You can clean your curtain on a cool wash with detergent or hand wash with an antibacterial cleaner and hang outside to dry.
