Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a chore, nor does it have to last for the whole of Spring. If you put the following top tricks into action, you will breeze through your Spring cleaning in no time at all. You won’t have to worry about it again until next year.
Fabrics
Fabrics can pick up a whole lot of dirt and grime over the course of a year. Even if you are washing them regularly. Which is why you should give them a deep clean at least once a year. That being said, custom window treatments should never be washed or even dry cleaned. Instead, vacuum them with a clean vacuum brush every six months.
A great way to kill off germs in removable fabrics is to simply hang them outside. The sun’s rays will have a cleansing effect. Traditionally, fabrics would be beaten to remove dust and dirt. You can still do this but it is much quicker to give them a good cleaning with a handheld vacuum cleaner.
Carpets
The easiest way to spruce up your carpets is a portable carpet cleaner. A portable cleaner will be easier to clean carpets in every room of the home. They make a much quicker job of removing stains and dirt than hand scrubbing. They are a million times faster too!
Hardwood Floors
Applying a new layer of wax to hardwood floors will help to protect them from the wear and tear of family life for another year. It takes less time to do this than it does to make constant repairs whenever the floor is scuffed.
Use a Wet Sponge to Remove Dust
When it comes to cleaning walls, floorboards and the like, it is much easier to use a damp sponge. Perhaps in conjunction with a little detergent. It is a struggle to use a duster. Which will just move the dust to another area and do little to remove dirt.
Clean Your Windows with Vinegar
If you want to get a cleaner look with less work, wash your windows with white vinegar and newspaper. This will remove dirt leaving your windows streak free. Usually in much less time than you could expect when using commercial cleaners or soap and water.
Freshen the Fridge
The easiest way to freshen up your fridge is to clean it with white vinegar, water, and baking soda. Once clean, leave a cut lemon and an open package of baking soda on the shelf. This will absorb unpleasant odors and freshen up your fridge.
Get the Family Involved
Your Spring chores will get done much more quickly if you get your family involved. Assign each family member a list of tasks to do. Then make it a competition to see who can finish up first, with a prize for the winner. You will see your home sparkling in no time while your family battles it out to beat each other.
All that remains to do is to brew yourself a nice cup of coffee. Sit back, relax and admire your newly cleaned, fragrant home.
