Is it worth hiring home improvement experts or doing it yourself? Modern life means access to modern living is simple. The internet has enabled us direct access to a host of cutting-edge technologies and opened our eyes to the latest architectural trends. Today, more than ever, we are taking pride in interior decorating to make our homes more beautiful. As consumers we know what we want and, thanks to so many sources of inspiration, we become more motivated to do something about it. At least, that is the plan, but where do you begin?
Unfortunately putting the simple skills we see on the TV and YouTube videos to practice, is a very different thing altogether. Removing that wall to give an open plan kitchen that we have always dreamed of, now seems like a bad idea as we find ourselves surrounded by bricks and dust. And certainly when it comes to big jobs like roof replacement, trying to do it yourself isn’t just a bad idea; it’s a dangerous one. So how can we get the homes we dream of without all the hassle of DIY?
First off, you should consider this when you are buying. Going for a brand new home gives you lots of different land and house packages so you can have your exact layout both inside the house and out in the garden, from the offset. Some people believe that modern homes lack character, and this may have been the case a few decades ago, but things have changed since the year 2000. Designers and Architects have managed to create gorgeous homes which reflect both form and function. Beautiful homes with a fantastic use of space, maximizing usage for the whole family.

To Hire An Interior Designer Or Not?
If buying a new home isn’t an option for you then you might consider talking to your local interior designer. It is worth paying an interior designer to come in and create a plan for you to work from. However, you may wonder if you should hire an interior designer if you already have a contractor. The answer is a bold YES! If you want to decorate only once, then you are in desperate need of a designer. Remember, the expertise that an interior designer can bring, can outweigh the price of the physical service.
You shouldn’t rely on just a contractor to come up with decorative ideas and design solutions. This is because most contractors have no idea how good design works and are not trained in the field of interior design. You wouldn’t want an interior designer to build your addition would you? However, collaborating with a designer and a contractor will get you the look you desire and you don’t have to lift a finger. Ask your contractor to show you photos of other homes they have built and always get references. Then you will get an idea of the end finish. This could save you a lot of money and stress avoiding costly mistakes.
Hire A Handyman
Another way of changing your home style without any DIY is to call in your local handyman. He can renovate rooms to give you a more modern feel in your current home. By having someone else in to work one room at a time, you can get most of the work done while you are out at the office. It will be a bit more expensive than DIY but the point is, in the long run, you get more time to spend with your family. It is worth deciding how much value you put on your time, we do when we are at work, so why not apply that at home. Can you afford to be away from your family or work for 80+ hours while working on your home improvement project?
