We all have our idea of the perfect home and regardless of style there is a design to fit everyone, however our budgets often dictate the ‘one room at a time’ system which, while it’s good advice, can be a little frustrating for the impatient among us. So how do you create maximum impact around your whole home while not spending a fortune? Simple, you work with the statement piece.
Let’s take a look room by room on how to create the design you want around the whole house when you only have the budget for a couple of rooms.
The Kitchen

Our kitchens have become the most important and social room in our households. The rise of the celebrity chef and whole TV channels dedicated to 24 hour culinary viewing, has made more people don their chef’s hat and entertain at home. For hundreds of years the very coolest chat at a party could be found in this room and it looks set not to change.
Depending on what design you are trying to achieve and how much space you have, there are a couple of places you could say are your statement piece. Some of the best kitchens take their inspiration from the professional approach of minimal, clean and uncluttered. You want something with wow factor. Visually pleasing but completely subtle. The Wine Enthusiast wine cooler gives you that. Cool effortless chic with the ability to hold 166 bottles of wine. This is a statement piece that no one can ignore. There are smaller options on the market to fit with your space if you have a smaller kitchen but, can you really ever have too much wine? We think not.
The Bathroom

Our bathrooms are the second room we love the most and are also another area of your house you will allow guests into. However a bathroom is a little more personal than a kitchen. It could be send that the bathtub is the biggest luxury when it comes to time, who has a spare hour to wallow in the tub these days? We all wish we did though right. So in this room your bath is your statement piece.
Free standing baths give a really dramatic feeling of indulgence and class and they don’t have to cost the earth. Set yourself a budget then shop around until you find something that draws you in. Then add a few luxury items like some Egyptian cotton bath towels, a few beautiful scented candles and a glass bottle of bubble bath. Et Voila! Statement piece engaged.

The Bedroom
It’s pretty obvious to know what your statement piece is in this room. The bedroom is the room we really allow ourselves to be free in. Obviously we wake up here and fall asleep here so it is the first, and last, thing we see at night. Visually it means a lot to us but we are humans so textures are important too. Of course there is also something else we do in bedrooms, meaning this room has to be very personal. After all, you get naked here! So let’s make sure you feel completely relaxed enough to do that.
Design & Custom Bedding by All About Interiors
How many homes have you been into where you head to the upstairs bathroom and walk past a row of locked doors? With a statement bed you will never want to leave your door shut again. The envy factor is too strong. If you have blown a heavy budget in your kitchen and bathroom, you can be a little gentler on your pocket here.
If you already have a bed you can boost its desirability factor by having a bespoke headboard made. A headboard can make or break a bed so go with something neutral in color or a real eye popper like bright pink in a soft grey room. Just make sure it’s a color which doesn’t wake you up when you should be nodding off. Dressing the bed is going to be where the big impact comes from. Okay, so most of us sleep with just a couple of pillows, but that shouldn’t stop you from displaying an impressive collection of big beautiful cushions and pillows.
Buying a heavy throw to cover your duvet set helps give a more dramatic effect and neater edging. You can buy bed runners to add some drama to a more plain look. In the bedroom you can think opulence and drama or calm and serene. The only rule is that when you look at your bed, you can’t resist going in and giving it a cuddle.
The Living Room
Design By All About Interiors
Living rooms are a brilliant gathering area where families tend to relax and enjoy a quieter time. Mutual comfort is the order of the day so the focus in this room should be your sofa. Depending on the size of your family or the size of your social circle will determine how many seats you’ll need. Make sure your sofa has enough space for you to sprawl out on when you are alone, or snuggle up on when there are a whole bunch of you. White sofas are beautiful but not practical. Unless you live on your own and never invite the outside world in, it’s probably best to avoid them. One well told joke could result in a wine spillage that will never be disguised.
Opt for a color which tolerates a slightly harder lifestyle and go from there. The sectional sofa means you can feel just as happy tucked into the corner alone as you do when you are cuddled up to someone you love. It also gives space for a whole family to sit round and watch a movie during the holidays. Dressed up or dressed down, a sofa can change the feel of the whole room.
