In a world fueled by electronics and technology you probably have a wide variety of electronics in your home or office. Most of you own a tv, phone, computer or laptop. You may also have a home entertainment system complete with tweeters, sub woofers and a sound bar. If you work from home, you pretty much rely on electronic devices to get you through your day. Most electronics come with power cords, USB cords and chargers. Your home or office can quickly become cluttered with all sorts of cords and chargers that stick out like a sore thumb. With electronics in virtually every room, this can lead to cluttered areas all over the house. Try these 5 ways to organize your electronics and keep your house nice and tidy:
Mount Your Television
Almost everyone owns a flat screen television, these days. They come in a variety of styles and sizes. The best place for your flat screen is on the wall. You can purchase a sturdy tv wall mount to eliminate the need for a bulky entertainment center. This will create a larger looking room and with the television mounted you get a splendid view. Some flat screen wall mounts allow you to swivel the television so that you can view it from practically any angle. Tv wall mounts are perfect for the kitchen, living room and even bedrooms. They are great for your child’s room and add extra safety. Instead of placing the tv on a table or dresser which could potentially harm your child you can mount their tv at a safe height on the wall.
Cut the Cord
If possible, go cordless. There are so many Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled devices from gaming consoles, printers, computers and more. With these wireless features you can cut the cord and say goodbye to those unsightly cord collections! Keeping your office area cord-free will provide a hassle-free work space and give you plenty of room. If you can’t go completely cordless, try keeping your cords color coded. This will help you know what cord goes to what device. Keep them together with zip ties or Velcro strips to keep it looking nice and tidy. A clean work space is a happy work space.
Invest in a Charging Station
This is a great idea for families. Think about it, if you have four people in your family and each of you have a cell phone, that’s four chargers. That’s four electrical outlets being used by the four chargers. Maximize your outlets and the need for so many chargers, by investing in a charging station. That’s one cord, in one outlet, charging four phones. It’s simple math and makes a lot of sense. You can find charging stations to accommodate how many devices you need to charge. Some hold 2 devices while others hold up to 6 or more.
Keep it Clean
When you are not using your laptop, tablet or other handheld device keep it put away. You should purchase some sort of carrying case for each of your devices so that you have a safe way to store them. If you leave them lying around when not in use you run the risk of spilling something on them or dropping them and it just looks cluttered. If you keep them put away you will immediately notice how clean and organized your work space looks. Your devices can also collect dust when not in use and it can affect the camera, screen and speakers.
Try a 2 in 1
If you have the need for both a laptop and a tablet, consider trying a 2 in 1. This hybrid device looks like your average laptop at a glance. Look closer and you will notice that you can free the screen from the keyboard and use it as a tablet. Done gaming and need to get back to work? Reattach the screen to the keyboard and you have a functional laptop. This will optimize your area and keep things organized and all in one place. You won’t have to tote around two separate carrying cases with this versatile 2 in 1. If you must have a desktop, try an all in one. Much like the 2 in 1 it is compact and there is no bulky tower. It’s all built right into the monitor.
