Foiled Again
A discreet, low-cost way of preserving the heat inside your home is to line the wall under your windows with foil. Obviously, you only put it behind the radiator; otherwise, it’ll look odd, to say the least. Thanks to science if you stick a piece of foil, shiny side up near a window the sun will bounce the heat back into the room instead of onto the window glass. Aluminum foil works best and will help give just a little extra boost of warmth to the room. Make sure the foil itself isn’t touching the radiator you don’t want it getting hot and accidentally catching fire! An alternative is to keep your Daikin heat pumps on low while letting warm air circulate the room instead of being concentrated in one place.
Through The Keyhole
It may be a small spot, but your keyholes let quite a lot of cold air blow through. Rest the keys in them at all times, or cover them by inserting a bit of furniture foam into those you rarely lock. Don’t forget to seal all tiny gaps and cracks including those by sink tiles, under the washing machine, beside the skirting boards and even around the bathroom sink and toilet. If you suspect a draft is coming from a particular direction have a little search until you find and seal it. Doors that have previously been planed to make room for new, springy carpets tend to also be slightly higher off the ground allowing cold air in. They may not be very glamorous but a fuzzy door draft excluder, will help keep any cold air from entering the room.
Delightful Decor
A functional room like an office tends to be a little blander than elsewhere in your home, so if you always feel chilly when working in your cold home simply add some color! Go wild and pick out fluffy, green or blue throw blankets, pop down a colorful patterned rug and call us to install some striped, or perky, colorful shades that’ll stop the heat from leaching out the window. Contact All About Interiors in CT for a cold house to warm house makeover. Don’t forget to think about what you use the office for, so if you’re in there for a while buy a comfy ergonomic chair and cushion to help support your back.
