Of all the rooms that are liable to be pushed to the bottom of the ‘to do list,’ none are as important as the guest bedroom.
This is the space where our friends and family members unwind when they come to spend time with us. You can’t expect much of a glowing review if they’re made to feel like an afterthought. It can’t be expected that you’ll put greater emphasis on your guest room over other rooms in the home. However, when the time comes to decorating the room, make sure you’re getting it right.

Think: “Hotel”
The very best guest rooms are the ones that you could take a photo of, show it to a stranger, and they do not know whether it’s a hotel room or a room in a family home. Don’t take the approach of making it an “extra bedroom”; look at your guest room from another angle. Draw inspiration from your favorite hotel rooms, and make them the basis for your remodeling job. There is an opportunity to get creative with your home decor if the room is only to be used by guests.
Added Touches
It’s the added touches that make all the difference when it comes to a guest room. Having a carafe of water and two glasses on the bedside table goes a long to making your guests feeling relaxed. If they have an en-suite bathroom, then load it up with a few high-quality shampoo and shower gel bottles. Also, a fresh bouquet of flowers is nice. It will allow them to feel like they’re retreating to their own oasis, even though they’re still in your home.
Home Comforts
if some of the fundamental comforts of home are missing it’s unlikely that a guest will feel truly relaxed and comfortable . Invest in a high efficiency furnace so that the air in the guest room is clean and toasty, and, if possible, give them the opportunity to control the temperature of their room. Nothing can ruin a stay more quickly than having the temperature being too extreme on either end of the scale. Worse, not being able to do anything about it.
Minimalist Style
Your guest bedroom shouldn’t be a dumping room. Items should not go in the guest bedroom if they could be placed in other areas of the home. Keep it simple, clean, and as if nobody is living there. With that being said, they are visiting your home to stay with you, so there’s nothing wrong with adding a few photographs or other family items around the room.
Conclusion
In the end, the key thing is to view your guest room through the eyes of the guest. Not through the lens of what’s convenient for you. If you dedicated a section of your home as a guest bedroom, then make it fit for a guest through and through.
