Many of us have the space for a guest room in our homes but getting guest rooms right isn’t easy. It’s not a space you sleep in, after all, so it can be hard to know how to fit it. Most people opt for a bland room, devoid of life. And that’s fine. It’s only for sleeping anyway, right? But, your guest room could also be a fantastic way to accommodate guests in style. All you need to do is think about how to inject the wilder parts of you into the room. There are few places you can let loose in your home, but your guest room is definitely one of them!
GO WILD WITH DESIGN
First thing’s first; go wild with design. Stay away from the bland neutrals of many guest rooms by opting instead for bright colors. You may have stayed away from these for your bedroom, but a guest room doesn’t have to be such a relaxing haven. Instead, use it as your chance to unleash and ensure your guests have fun. You could even introduce a theme if you want to. Pick something that shows your personality, so guests get the full experience. How about a jungle safari theme?
THINK FEATURES
The creativity doesn’t stop there. Give your guests something to look at by getting creative with decorating features. You could buy an led edison bulb, or some other light with a difference. These take up no extra space, and yet they look fantastic! Or, you could work on the walls with a fun wallpaper or Mural. Could you hang pictures for your guests to look at? If you’re an artist, inject even more of you into the room by painting pictures especially for the purpose. Your guests are sure to enjoy looking at these, and will be glad you went to the trouble!
MAKE THE MOST OF THE SPACE
Many guest bedrooms, more often than not, are small. Spare rooms are those box rooms that aren’t much good for anything else. Make the most of the space you have by getting creative with furniture choices. This can also be an excellent way to extend the fun décor. Instead of getting a space consuming double bed, why not opt for bunk beds? Your younger guests are sure to enjoy sleeping in these and they save a lot of space. Just make sure you get some big enough for teenagers! If you opted for the safari theme, you could even opt for hammocks. These take up no floor space, and you can pack them away when your guests leave. But, bear in mind that they can take some getting used to. Let your guests practice before bedtime!
